18 year old in Relevant Education
Tue 10-Mar-09 03:38 PM

Client has an 18 year old who is in and has been in relevant education continuously without a break. Child Benefit ceased at 16; I don't know why, client not very helpful with details; I assume it was because she failed to respond to CBO enquiries about continuing education, work, training etc. Can it now be reawarded if she reclaims?

Client claims she did make enquiries when the young person was 17 and was told she should have claimed within 3 months of the Child Benefit ceasing.

Can reclaim any time and request 3months backdating. Similarly CTC. Does she have any evidence that she was wrongly advised previously? There could be a claim for compensation

Thank you Brian.
I can get the ball rolling now on a new claim, backdating and investigate misdirection.
