WRO's in Childrens Services/organisations
Thu 08-Nov-07 10:44 AM

We are based in Adult Services and are hope to develop more work in Childrens Services etc(there's a need for it!!!). Are there any WR services who work in projects in either Childrens Services - OR - generally, with other projects/organisations for children/young people (childrens trusts, education, voluntary projects etc).
If so, it would great be to hear from you, so we can learn about more arguments for working in that area.
Either email me (icon on left) or reply to this message.
Thanks in advance
Clive

Hi Clive

We're taking a similar tack but it's painfully slow up here, however Durham WRS are well ahead on this.

Hello Clive/Keith

Our Welfare Rights Service is also in Adult Services - there are 3 of us doing child/families related work - it is not very tightly defined - we are mostly doing assessments for people applying for special guardianship/residence/adoption allowances as well as advising foster parents - there is also a certain amount of spin-off work from the contacts we have made - we are shortly do some work with familes with young people with disabilities who are around 16

There are also workers in neighbouring authorities doing similar work

Tony
