Assessed Income Period
Thu 05-Mar-09 10:47 AM

Remain confused about AIP - I have claimants aged 65 and 66 in receipt of pension savings credit. He has now received a lump sum from a private pension plus a weekly payment.

The net effect would be to bring their capital over £6000, reduce their savings credit and HB/CTB

But how do I find out if they are in an AIP and therefore not under any obligation to notify Pension Service or Benefits Unit?

Any clarification much appreciated

Ask them or the DWp.

They may also have been asked whether they were expecting the pension. If so, it would normally have precluded the setting up of an AIP.
