Has anybody had any joy in obtaining DHP for client's who have a Mortgage but are in arrears and due to be repossessed? - Or indeed for client's purely with a Mortgage. I have meade an application that is currently being reviewed by our LA Policy Team with regards to this. Many thanks.

Zebedee, Ward & Lister - Guide to HB/CTB - 2003/2004 - page 130 -

para 7.39.

DHP's are available to claimants who:-

"In GB are entitled to HB or CTB ........."

Housing costs, as opposed to Housing Benefit, are the province of the DWP - see page 39 of Zebedee -

para 3.15 -

"Claimants whose accomedation costs are included in their Income Support/income based JSA are excluded from help through the HB scheme. .....................mainly those engaged in some form of home ownership which entitles them to the equity in thier home".

para 3.16 -

"Owner occupiers are not eligible for help via HB on their mortgage repayments".

I rather think that covers it - I assume that the client is at the very least working closely with a CAB (or similar) Debt adviser.
