Income Support arrears and savings threshold Mon 22-Feb-10 02:46 PM
I recently completed a benefit check for a client to find out that they were missing out on a s.d.premium going back to 2001. So I called the local benefits delivery center to raise the issue.
BDC have now called me to say they are going to look into the repayment of arrears this week. The figure is going to be well over 16k.
I have read in my rights handbook that they will ignore arrears for up to 52 weeks. How will they look at this income afterwards? Is there any futher discretion of the 16k rule if it is of no fault of the clients that they were wrongly assessed.
