Can anyone tell me if someone is self-employed and ends that self-employment (and starts looking for work), do they retain any kind of self-employed status or some other beneficial status which would be akin to a worker ending employment and retaining worker status while looking for work. For nationals from the established EEA states it’s not such a big issue as they will at least acquire rights as a work seeker. But my current client is an A8 national and so won’t have a right to reside as a work seeker.

Also, if an A8 national has been working as a self-employed person for 2 years, if they finish this and start looking for employment, do the derogations still apply to them anyway and would they still need to register under the WRS if they found employment?
