SC1 treated as being an IB(Y)1
Tue 29-Nov-05 02:56 PM

Has anyone ever been successful in persuading their IB section to treat an SC1 as if it were an IB(Y)1? Many of my clients are being sent the wrong forms, and my local IB section insist that a claim to Incapacity Benefit for young people cannot be made on an SC1, even if the answers to the missing questions are provided. I would like to prove to them that they are wrong.

CMS has not been the answer either. I have been told that a CMS-produced customer statement was not on the right form. "How can this be possible?" I hear you ask. Good question. Apparently it's all down to the Contact Centre not asking the right questions at the beginning, but they won't actually tell me what the right question should be.

At the moment I'm stuck between having to use the old claim form system and CMS, depending on which Jobcentre Plus deals with my clients' address.

Any help out there?

i wonder if there is any mileage in taking matters into our own hands (not in he 'plan' but such is life...) and printing up proformas boldly headed
'NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CLAIM XXXX BENEFIT (IN ACCORDANCE WITH REG 4(5)OF CLAIMS AND PAYMENTS REGS')

Please arrange the issue of the appropriate claim forms...

Personal Details

Signature and date.

???

oh but wait! where to send them?

just a suggestion - it might not be a very good idea... : )
