NAWRA, Durham, Friday 11th June 2010
Mon 17-May-10 09:54 AM

Hi there

Just wanted to draw your attention to the next NAWRA meeting, taking place at County Hall, Durham, on 11th June 2010. The agenda is now confirmed and is available on the NAWRA website at www.nawra.org.uk/schedule.htm.

Among the many highlights of the day will be our guest speakers from the Tribunal Service and from Newcastle University - the latter looking at the impact of welfare rights advice on health and quality of life.

We also have an exciting programme of workshops covering:

- Supported Employment & Welfare Rights
- Professionalism in Welfare Rights
- Children Leaving Care and Welfare Rights Services
- Benefits training to a non-advice audience
- ESA & Mental Health

The meeting is free of charge to all NAWRA members. If you, or your organisation, are not a member why not come along and join on the day? Further details of membership are on our website - www.nawra.org.uk.

For those arriving on Thursday 10th June, there will be a social evening (from 7pm) at the Slug & Lettuce pub next to the Premier Inn, right in the city centre.

Durham really is a fantastic city and I urge anyone who has never visited to take immediate steps to rectify that situation! I look forward to seeing you there.

Best wishes,

Alan Markey
NAWRA Chair

y'all should stay the weekend and explore the city, cathedral, river walks, shops, etc. it's great...

Thanks for the clarification! With regard to parking, it is free of charge at County Hall itself.

Best wishes,

mmm not sure you're allowed to park there overnight, though, for those staying over... and if it's on a friday, county hall car park will be full of staff and councillors! not much room for visitors

sorry to be a dampener, but people should know these potential issues LOL

oh, and the hospital car park next door is pricey!

Hi Claire

I have attended a number of previous events there, including NAWRA, and not found any particular problems at County Hall or elsewhere. If people are staying over then they can probably park at their hotels in any event? Perhaps you could make alternative suggestions for car parking in Durham if things have changed?

Thanks.

Alan

Hi Alan,

Our new manager is attending Durham to see what all this NAWRA stuff is about. Can you try and give her the impression that it is a useful meeting, or we might not be allowed to come any more...
