communtiy care grant.....
Thu 21-Apr-05 09:37 AM

I have a tenant who after much abuse and intimidation from the up stairs flat has been offered a new property with us.

Is she eligable for help with removal costs and connection charges? the reg book says that she wouldn't be eligable if she was re-housed following a compulsary exchange of tenancy....

Assuming that your tenant receives relevant benefit there is nothing to stop her applying for help by way of a CCG,but whether or not she gets a grant will depend on how she explains her need to move, state of the budget etc.You could do a letter supporting her application and saying why your organisation was able to help her with a tenancy,(urgent situation, state of her health etc.)

From what you say it does not sound like a 'compulsory exchange of tenancy', which I would take to be an entirely differant situation where there was some problem with the original property itself, for example, rather than a problem with other tenants.

If the application is turned down then you/she should go through the review process.
