Proof of Identity for Child Born in Spain for Child Tax Credit Claim
Tue 26-Jan-10 02:49 PM

British parents lived and worked in Spain. Returned to UK June 2009 now receiving JSA.. Child born in Spain in August 2008 returned with them. Child's birth was registered in Spain at local registry office. Client also has Libro de Familia (Spanish Family document) for child. Child has no passport and is not on mum or dads. Was allowed into UK by UK Border agency and on plane!

TCO do not acept these as sufficient proof for claim and say these documents are not recognised. Have looked at TC manuals on website but cannot find info. Any suggestions for help?
CB also not in payment.

sounds like a possible JR case....unreasonable to not accept spanish birth certificate

praying in aid, possibly, european treaty ...not to mention human rights act, why not!

amazed they didn't put child on passport from the embassy in spain before returning to UK though...
