Housing Benefit Temporary absence
Tue 01-Jun-04 10:28 AM

This is a general query regarding Housing Benefit paid during a temporary absence. If someone has been in Hospital for 47 weeks and then goes into residential care on a trial period.

It would originally be paid for 47 weeks under regulation 5(8B)(cii)during their temporary absence in Hospital; then for 5 weeks under regualtion 5(7B) during their trial period in residential care.

It is my understanding that they would only receive a maximum of 52 weeks Housing Benefit using these regulations.

However can they then receive a further 4 weeks Housing Benefit to cover their notice period using reg 5(5d). Therefore they would receive a total of 56 weeks Housing Benefit?
