65 today
Thu 14-Oct-04 10:58 AM

I've just seen someone who is 65 TODAY, I just wanted to check if there is any way round the age rule with a view to getting a DLA claim in for this person rather than AA. I'm thinking not mind

What about a plea to the welfare rights community.

Namely that if any welfare rights officer out there has a spare pre-dated DLA form that they could send you.

It's got to be worth a try!

all you had to do was call for a dated form to be sent to client.

You have to claim before hitting 65!

Did you wish them a happy birthday? - think your too late to apply for DLA - not too sure about the suggestion of obtaining a dated form intended for another person.

Hi Jim

We always keep dated form in the office, I have hunted all day and not a single worker has a DLA dated, sorry, as I would have had no hesitation sending you one.

I could send you a pre-dated AA form that would cover the period before they were 65, they are interchangeable with DLA, any good to you?

Sorry I must have misunderstood the oringinal query and suggested response. I had responded on the basis that:

a. 65 year old client had sought advice about DLA, that
b.Another advice agency has suggested/advised to obtain a copy of pre-dated DLA claim form obtained and intended for another client but not subsequently used, that
c.advice agency then advises or assist's client to this complete the claim form intended for another person to obtain DLA, giving the impression that the claim had been made/requested before the age of 65, that
d.Claim form is then lodged with DBC for decision to be made, that
e.Client is fully aware and understands the cicumstances in which the claim is being made
f.If successful then DLA awarded, if not then presumably appeal lodged and.....?

I must have misunderstood the above scenario.

(These represent my own views and do not reflect in anyway those of my employer or this orgainstion)
