can anyone help. i have a couple where the husband is an asylum seeker. wife is working but on mternity leave. she is coming to the end of her paid leave and wants to take unpaid leave for a few months and claim benefits.

i can see she can claim child tax credits. she had been geting paid workingfamilies tax credit but is repaying an overpayment.

but i cannot see that she can leave work for a few months and claim IS (she has mortgage costs to meet as well) as she would have voluntarily left her work.

is this right? can she do anything else?
