Has anyone seen any guidance regarding the application of the overlapping rules to child dependant additions for the eldest child in a family between now and April.
In the absence of any mitigation the increases in child benefit should trigger a decrease in the child dependant addition payable for an eldest child - from £8.75 to £8.20. (SS (OB) Regs, reg 8(3) SI 1979/597 as amended) . This would mean that for those claimants still receiving child dependant additions:
Claimants not migrated to tax credits would have to have their income support/JSA(IB) recalculated. HB and CTB tapered by income would have to be recalculated.
This is something that the temporary disregard of CB already announced was designed to avoid.
Thanks,
Tim
