Self help information for claimants challenging decisions
Thu 09-Dec-04 02:43 PM

Dear All

I am working on a project for the DCA trying to improve advice and information is available to help benefits claimants who wish to challenge decisions, either through getting decisions revised or through appeal to tribunals.

I would be very grateful if anyone could point me to any existing leaflets and self-help packs which are available to guide claimants through the system. I have looked already at DWP leaflet on "What to do if you think our decision is wrong", and various other sources (Advice Guide, Appeals Service, Jobcentre Plus, Rightsnet Q&A etc), and would appreciate any other info on what information is out there and also what information you have found clients lack/what we should include in any future information produced.

Thank you,

Eleanor Fisken

I think the Court Service do a pretty good job with their leaflet 'Appealing to a Social Security or Child Support Commissioner'. I even use it myself, on occasion. Sadly, I've just been scanning the court service website, and the osscsc, and I can't find mention of it anywhere. I seem to get sent a copy when TAS feel like it...

Anyway, their forms are online:-
