Working tax credit
Wed 03-Mar-04 12:36 PM

I have a client, who works 19 hours per week, her husband became a full time student in September and lives in London during the week. They have 2 children, who they received childcare for, this has been taken off them.
They would like to appeal. What grounds can I use?

Why was it stopped?

It was stopped because the husband became a full time student.
The argument is that he can look after the children, but the thing is he is living in London during term times.

It is a sore subject, but if he isnt working, then CC costs can not be claimed, I dare say if enough people appeal, they may change this, thats unofficial though.

If the husband is a student in HE then he should have been able to apply for a childcare grant to help with the childcare costs.
