Family Credit
Wed 06-Aug-08 01:09 PM

Just wondering really..

If you had the choice would you like to see Family Credit re-instated as an alternative to the bloody awful Tax Credit system in place now..

I dotn recall seeing many overpayments and ***** up in the FC days, unlike these days where everybody has an o/p of TC;s and trying to get any sort of resolution / information from TCO is nigh on impossible..

Just wondered what other people thoughts are..?

It was jolly hard to have an OP of family credit since changes of circumstances were mostly irrelevant. Though I do recall one big case I saw, where the reason was failure to declare capital, over something like 5 years and thus 10 6-monthly renewal applications....though now I thik of it, that was Working Families Tax Credit, but much the same idea.

I have always thought that if HMRC/HMT is so keen on tax credits being dealt with on an annual basis they should do it properly and ignore cahnges post assessment. Never happen, though.
