PENSION CREDIT OVERPAYMENT
Fri 27-Oct-06 02:42 PM

I have a overpayment appeal coming up shortly. The woman in question is 88 years of age and the overpayment accrued as a result of her husband's death, when she thereafter claimed pension credit, at the single person's rate, and qualified for same. Thereafter she was awarded a higher retirement pension due to her husband's entitlement. As a result of this she accrued an overpayment on her pension credit of just over £700 before it was detected in June 04. Anyone have any ideas on how to win this or get it waived?

Have you tried asking PC to write this off due to her age and the effect it would have on her health

wait wait! the Pensions Service (set up to improve services to pensheens!)awards pension credit AND converts Cat B to Cat A pensions, so how come they overpaid her? Is it an official error?

How did she claim? was it a telephone claim? surely the recent death of her husband and her Cat B rate were mentioned in the telephone call? don't tell me the Pensions SErvice have let down a recently bereaved elderly widow!

only ask for a right off if you are satisfied that there is a recoverable overpayment.

don't mind Paul... i'm having a rant for him - he's having a drink for me, jammy devil... lol!
