Benefits and Learning Difficulties

I have a client whop has complete word blindness. In a complete mess with his money. Am helping with HB. Has anybody any pointers?

1. Get an application form in straightaway as the award will normally only run from the Monday following the date the LA receives the form.
2. Submit a request for the award to be backdated. The LA could go back up to 52 weeks if your claimant has "good cause". His learning difficulties may be cited.
3. Prepare for requests for original evidence to support the claimant's ID (including National Insurance number), Income (from whatever sources), Capital and Savings, Rent and details of other household members. The claim form may offer guidance on what is needed.
4. Also claim Council Tax Benefit (if this is not covered by the one application form.

Thanks for the pointers.

Should have looked at my own spelling etc, looks like my customer is not the only one with word blindness.
