late workers registration (A8 nationals)
Wed 20-May-09 05:13 PM

My client from Slovakia did not know that she had to register her new jobs - she registered her first job in May 2008 and received her registration card, but after her first job she had a large number of unregistered jobs during 2008 and this year.

She is now going to register her new job, but what about her old jobs? Should she try register them as well?

Any help?

Did your client work through an employment agency?

Hi, sorry for this late answer but my client missed a few appointments with me. No, she worked directly for employers like hotels and supermarkets.

reg 7(5) of the Accession (Immigration and Workers Registration) Regs 2004

A registration certificate -

a) is invalid if the worker is no longer working for the employer specified in the certificate on the day on which it is issued;

b) expires on the date on which the worker ceases working for that employer

so no point registering the old jobs. Any that lasted a month or less are legal though, and anylonger than a month were legal for the first month
