CT 25% discount
Tue 13-Apr-04 03:36 PM

Single parent, three children, employs live in Hungarian Au pair -

her main place of residence is Hungary (?) is lady entitled to 25% single occupant discount ? Question was posed to our CT billing, who ummmmmed and ahhhhhed, but didn't seem able to come up with a definative answer, other than erring on the side of caution and saying probably not.

Hi Mike.

From the question mark you have put after the word Hungary it seems as though your client(?) may not maintain a home there. If not then I do not see how it can be argued that her current residence is not her main residence.

If she does maintain a home elsewhere then that opens it up to be argued. Of course, it will depend on the facts, such as how often she stays there, where does she keep her belongings (or the bulk of them) etc!

Regards
Paul

Sorry, should have made that a little clearer - the Au pair is hungarian, and her main residence to which she will return is her family home in that country.

If the discount isn't a goer, what about a claim for second adult rebate? I don't think au pairs are paid very much, might save 15%?

or

Is she on a college course, 12 hours a week gives her student status?

(Sorry if you've already thought of these options, I'm just distracting myself today....)
