HMRC is proposing pilots in the next month on outsourcing debt collection to independent agencies. This was discussed at the last Disability Benefits Consortium (DBC) meeting and the group expressed concern.
Questions were raised about how to ensure that these agencies will uphold HMRC’s standards and ensure appropriate disability awareness.
There is a concern that DWP’s providers iQor will be used and paid merely on a commission basis for the amount of funds recovered. When questioned, It has been confirmed by Tony McNulty that any services outsourced will be under the same regime as DWP.
