Appeals Service data
Fri 10-Dec-04 03:15 PM

Does anybody know if the Appeals Service publish statistical data about things like the number of appeals heard, successful/unsuccessful etc for particular venues?

Thanks

They certainly collect data by regional office and it makes interesting reading. I'm not sure if its formally published anywhere, maybe try their website? I went to a workshop at the NAWRA meeting in London in March and the facilitator had managed to get hold of national figures quite easily, I think he just rang his local office.

The President's Reports contain a fair bit of detail :-
http://www.appeals-service.gov.uk/42.htm

But not as much as the stats that the bloke at NAWRA had.

Yep,

The appeals service publish all sorts of stats.... I use them in my training... (the discrepancy between oral and paper hearings is alarming)....

Anyway... the link is available at...

http://www.dwp.gov.uk/asd/asd1/appeals/Superstats_Appeals_Mar04.xls

see the various tabs (tables) for individual appeal types... table 4 is quite illuminating to see outcome by venue - TAS region !!!
