Council Tax exemption
Fri 02-Apr-04 10:11 AM

Dear all,

I have been assisting a client who has a partner that may be exempt from Council Tax due to an enduring mental health issue. If this were the case would my client qualify for the 25 single person discount?

Many thanks

Brian Coulson.

If a person is exempt for council tax then they are invisible for the purpose of a council tax assessment on the property and thus the appropriate discounts would apply, i.e the 25% discount in your client's case.

The 25% discount will apply so long as there are no other adults in the property who are not disregarded
