Working out the applicable amount
Mon 20-Apr-09 02:48 PM

I am trying to work out the applicable amount for a client who is currently signed off work due to ill health. He lives with his partner who is also ill, both are in receipt of DLA higher rate care. He is receiving sick pay from work, (full pay for 6 months then half pay) this is currently their only other source of income. They have a mortgage.

I have worked out their applicable amount using the income support rates but am now unsure if this is correct? Should I be looking at ESA and if so can I only include the basic rate plus SDP/EDP as we dont know whether they would be in the support or work related activity group?

The excess income is currently £156 per week above the IS applicable amount.

If I remembered right, the interest payments on your mortgage are added to your applicable amount arent they?
