Revised scheme to name employers who break minimum wage law announced by government

National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Regulations 2013

With effect from 1 October 2013, new regulations amend provisions of the National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 to increase the hourly rates for the national minimum wage as follows - 1) the principal rate from £6.19 to £6.31; 2) the rate for workers who are aged 18 or over but not yet aged 21 from £4.98 to £5.03; 3) the rate for workers aged under 18 from £3.68 to £3.72 per hour; and 4) the apprentice rate from £2.65 to £2.68.

Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 (Consequential Amendments) (Employment) Order 2013

New statutory instrument makes consequential amendments arising from section 23 of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 which came into force on 29 July 2013 - section 23 changes references to 'compromise agreements' and 'compromise contracts' to 'settlement agreements' and 'settlement contracts' in specified primary legislation relating to employment matters.

Employment Tribunals (Constitution and Rules of Procedure) (Consequential Amendments) Regulations

New statutory instrument amends various pieces of secondary legislation to reflect the coming into force of the Employment Tribunals (Constitution and Rules of Procedure) Regulations 2013 which revoked and replaced the Employment Tribunals (Constitution and Rules of Procedure) Regulations 2004 on 29 July 2013.

Unfair Dismissal (Variation of the Limit of Compensatory Award) Order 2013

New statutory instrument amends the limit on a compensatory award for unfair dismissal claims by introducing an additional, alternative limit so that, in an unfair dismissal claim, the limit on the compensatory award shall be the lower of a set amount (which is currently £74,200) and the product of 52 multiplied by a week’s pay of the employee concerned.

New statutory instrument provides for employment tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal to be 'added tribunals' for the purpose of section 42 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007, enabling the Lord Chancellor to make an order under that provision to impose fees for anything they deal with.

New regulations that make consequential changes to the Employment Appeal Tribunal Rules 1993 to take account of the introduction of fees when an appeal from a decision of the employment tribunals is made to the Employment Appeal Tribunal, and also other minor changes in relation to unmeritorious appeals.
