Early expiry of provisions that have enabled local authorities in Wales to determine whether to comply with duties to assess and meet care needs during Covid-19 outbreak

New statutory instrument

New regulations have been issued in relation to provisions in the Coronavirus Act 2020 that have enabled local authorities in Wales to determine whether to comply with duties to assess and meet care needs during Covid-19 outbreak.

In force from 31 July 2021, the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Early Expiry: Local Authority Care and Support) (Wales) Regulations 2021 (SI.No.850/2021) expire certain provisions made by section 15 of, and Part 2 of Schedule 12 to, the 2020 Act, which together have enabled local authorities to determine whether to comply with duties in relation to meeting care needs, and carrying out social care assessments during the Covid outbreak.

NB - the operation of these provisions has been suspended since 22 March 2021 by the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Suspension: Local Authority Care and Support) (Wales) Regulations 2021 (SI.No.316/2021).
