  • The work capability assessment
  • Requirements of claimants for work-focused interviews and work-related activity
  • Sanctions and appeals

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand how to make a claim
  • Explain how ESA is calculated
  • Advise clients on how ESA interacts with other benefits
  • Understand the rules for transitional protection and permitted work
  • Advise clients on how limited capability for work is assessed
  • Work out who can qualify for the support group
  • Recognise work-related activity requirements and possible pitfalls
