Big Lottery Fund publishes Strategic Framework
Funding plan through to 2015 announced following consultation process
The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) has published its Strategic Framework setting out its approach to funding through to 2015.
The Strategic Framework document provides details of what BIG wants to achieve and how it will go about 'bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need' in order to achieve its mission and vision. All of the future funding programmes that BIG introduces will use the new strategic framework as a starting point.
The strategy is underpinned by BIG's three UK-wide themes -
- community learning and creating opportunity;
- promoting community cohesion and safety; and
- promoting well-being
- and sets out where BIG wants to be by 2015, and outlines how it intends to achieve its ambition of becoming 'an efficient and responsive funder'.
Key areas of focus that will enable BIG to achieve its aim. include -
- championing equalities and sustainable development;
- using learning to influence public policy and practice;
- becoming a champion of communities and disadvantaged people in order for communities to thrive, be more robust, inclusive and tackle the issues that matter to them;
- reflecting the diversity of the UK; and
- equipping communities to deal with the changes and challenges they face.
The strategic framework BIG thinking is available from the Big Lottery Fund website.
NB - in What you told us BIG has also published an in-depth analysis of the responses to its consultation on its strategic direction.
