Compact work programme announced
Commission launches draft business plan for taking the Compact forward
The Commission for the Compact has today launched its first work programme aimed at taking forward the Compact between government and the voluntary and community sector.
The draft business plan, which has been drawn up by Commissioner for the Compact, John Stoker and the Chief Executive, Angela Sibson, aims to take the Compact forward on four key areas:
- performance;
- policy development;
- learning; and
- promotion.
Launching the draft business plan today in London, John Stoker Commissioner of the Compact said:
'We have much to celebrate, and I am proud to have been appointed as the first Commissioner for the Compact. Challenges remain. There is still a gap between commitment to Compact principles of good partnership and their full delivery. I welcome the willingness of leaders in central and local government and the voluntary and community sector have shown to acknowledge this gap, and the commitment they have expressed to work to close it and to promote best practice in partnership.'
The Commission for the Compact hopes that the plan will drive better practice and lead to better results and is seeking the views of stakeholders on whether the draft plan will achieve this.
