We would like to recruit a permanent position within Greenwich Welfare Rights Service.
We are a local authority specialist welfare rights service, providing information and advice about the full-range of welfare benefits and tax credits to staff, advisers and residents. Support for staff includes a full training programme, analysis of the impact of benefit changes and advice for council colleagues and front-line advisers. Services for residents are mainly delivered through a telephone advice line, but also include information and publicity, talks, and work with partners on specific projects.
Welfare Rights Officers within our team work to a generic job description but each have specialist areas of responsibility. We want to recruit an experienced welfare rights adviser who will be able to take over responsibility for the management and most of the delivery of the training work of the team. In addition, the post-holder will spend a significant amount of time delivering advice to residents, staff and advisers. The post-holder will need to be a specialist welfare rights adviser, able to cover the full range of benefits and tax credits for all client groups. S/he will need to be able to keep themselves updated while working in a busy team providing a range of services and advice lines.
