CHAS CL is a Central London based independent Housing & Debt advice charity providing high quality and accessible legal advice to the general public. We undertake Housing, Debt and Welfare benefit work and hold an LSC contract in Housing. Most of our Housing work is conducted under our LSC contract although we receive funding from other sources which enables us to do homelessness prevention, debt and welfare benefit work.
We need a Casework Manager / Solicitor who can provide high quality specialist advice and casework service to our clients. He/she would also need to ensure that casework quality and output meet the required standards.
We need someone who can win their case, meet or exceed targets without compromising standards and quality, one who is motivated by the interaction of casework for vulnerable clients and who can support the Chief Executive in Social policy work for wider social benefit.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Casework Manager / Solicitor has overall responsibility for Casework delivery, working with two Team Leaders and between 10 and 14 Caseworkers. The post holder must be able to supervise and manage contracts ensuring that various targets are met, including NMS and closure targets under the LSC contract. He/She must be able to supervise the billing of legal help cases to comply with the LSC requirements.
The post holder will ensure that effective quality management systems are in place for the provision of advice and legal representation. The post holder is expected to undertake casework under the LSC contract and may need to cover advice surgeries at short notice.
High professional standards and flexibility are essential for this post.
- Team Leaders (1 f/t & 1 p/t) -
£30,000 pro rata.
We are looking for Team Leaders to manage a team of caseworkers and also able to carry own caseload.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of Housing and Debt Work and able to provide casework support and supervision. The ability to meet Legal Services Commission Standards would be an advantage.
