Guidance Tutor; Supervisors; Support Worker

Barnet CAB's exciting new Big Lottery Funded 'Advice Barnet Project' aims to increase access to good quality legal advice for those in greatest need who live work or study in the London Borough of Barnet.
The project brings together a partnership of 16 Barnet based advice providing organisations from the voluntary, statutory and commercial sectors and will seek to integrate advice provision to an unprecedented degree by setting up a helpline which will provide a single point of access to most advice services in Barnet.
To assist us in meeting our objectives under this project we are recruiting -
- a 4 day per week Guidance Tutor;
- 2 full time Gateway Session Supervisors; and
- a 3 day per week Project Support Worker.
All posts are fixed term to 31 May 2012.

Guidance Tutor -
Salary: £27,692 (actual salary £22,154). SO2/SP31 (including OLW). Hours: Part-time (4 days per week).
Working closely with the project manager you will be training volunteers to be advisers so that Barnet CAB and its partners can increase their capacity to provide advice to all those who live, work or study in Barnet. You will have had experience of training and supporting trainee advisers using the Citizens Advice Certificate programme and will report to the Advice Barnet Project Manager.
You will have -
At least 2 years' experience of guidance tutor work within a CAB setting. At least 2 years' experience of generalist advice work. Ability to deliver training modules, combined with understanding of adult learning techniques/theories. Experience of effective partnership working. Effective written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on education and development.
Gateway Assessment Supervisors -
Salary: £26,082 SO1/SP29 (including OLW). Hours: Full time.
Working closely with the project manager you will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the call centre by providing support and supervision to volunteer telephone gateway assessors. You will also ensure callers to the helpline receive the most appropriate source of help available for their needs.
You will have had experience of generalist advice work and may have had experience of advice session supervisor work. You will report to the Advice Barnet Project Manager.
You will have -
At least one year's experience of generalist advice work. This can be less than full time experience provided that you have worked continuously as an adviser for one year post Certificate of Competence. Experience of Gateway Assessment as an effective model for delivering an improved advice service. Demonstrated supervisory skills including the ability to support and develop the volunteer team. Effective oral communication skills.
Project Support Worker -
Salary: £18,687 - £19,964 (actual salary £11,212 - £11,978). SO1/SP18-20 (including OLW). Hours: Part time (3 days per week).
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective administrative systems for the project and providing administrative support to the Advice Barnet Project Manager in recruiting and selecting volunteers in accordance with national Citizens Advice procedures.
You will have -
At least one year's full time experience (or part time equivalent) working in an administrative capacity. Excellent IT skills and a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. Excellent customer service skills. The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
