CPAG have got a new seminar taking place in Manchester and London in a few weeks:

Couples and common issues with tax credits and child benefit

- North (Manchester) ... Wednesday 22nd June 2016
- South (London) ... Friday 1st July 2016

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

The seminar will explore a number of issues that trouble advisers and their clients with regard to tax credits and child benefit entitlement, with specific focus on the particular rules and practices around moving in and out of couples, or being wrongly thought to be in a couple.

Great line-up too, with speakers including: Sarah Clarke, Solicitor at the Public Law Project, Tom Royston, Barrister with Garden Court Chambers and Ros and Martin from CPAG

I did suggest an alternative title for this workshop as:

“Shacking up and Splitting up: HMRC stuff you need to know”

Sadly it was vetoed and strangely enough someone has emailed me a copy of the CPAG house style guide recently….

Should be a good workshop despite the dry title though.

The prize?

When you do courses in Welsh you could use Cwpl Cwpla - Couple finished.

I think the Welsh one is very snappy - will definitely adopt when (or perhaps if) we do a Welsh version :)

Hi all - there are still places on our seminars in Manchester on 22 June and London on 1July - all the latest on challenging incorrect HMRC ‘living together’ decisions, overpayments and the offsetting rules and benefit issues for people who have suffered domestic violence -

Really wish I could attend the London one Ros, but have clash of dates. Will it be running again later in the year do you know?

Hi all - really enjoyed the seminar last week in Manchester so thanks very much to all who came and thanks to Tom Royston for very interesting talk on potential legal challenges.

Looking forward to the London version this Friday which features Sarah Clarke from the Public Law Project and myself and Martin Williams from CPAG. There’s still time to book a place if you’d like to come -
