Shocked no-one else has done this. I think we need an entire thread to celebrate the fact that Mr. Treloar’s team have just given many of us a 90 minutes we’ve been waiting on for years.

Make the most of these days Paul. They are the golden age. It will never get any better than this (and I don’t just mean thrashing United obviously).

I will also say that, barring absolute disasters, five years from now I expect Thomas Frank to be celebrated as one the great Premier League managers.

Now, the heat is getting to me…

Thanks Mike, it was probably one of the greatest afternoons of my life. As bad as United were, the Bees were magnificent and made them look very ordinary indeed (even a certain CE who looked a shadow of the player he was with us). Fourth goal was dreamland and currently sitting in third place and dreaming of a European tour…..

Extended highlights available here

Scenes on the terraces afterwards were tremendous, what a day, what a club.

(And sorry Shawn, I know this must be painful).

.... I was still on a high from our goalie scoring a stoppage-time equaliser earlier in the afternoon (Sorry Alan, I know that must be painful 😂)

I can see I’m going to live to regret starting this if there are any Chesterfield fans about.

I was wandering through Northwich during a break from an all day punk festival, when a sad man sitting outside a pub called me over.  ‘Have you heard about the football?  I couldn’t watch it any more, I’ve had to leave’ he moaned, showing off a very large Man Utd crest tattooed on his arm.  He looked very sad, and his mood wasn’t improved when I pointed out I was Leeds, so there.  A great day for us all.

I must say, I’m scratching my head to think of another result that seems to have pleased so many fans of so many other teams.

Paul: previous one that springs to mind is City v QPR on the final day in 2012, with same “victim” as it were. Bolton were relegated that day but I was still celebrating.

Never tire of watching this… or thinking of beating ‘them’ 5-1 in 1989 or 6 - 1 in 2011

I remain of the view that within our lifetime it will come to light that that match was a fix.

We shall see 😊

I like a bit of drama but nothing about those last few minutes ever struck me as remotely credible. By coincidence I was at the match with a mate who is a QPR season ticket holder and the change in the pattern of play was as though a switch had been pressed. Entire players froze in position for no reason at all. There is a graphic of it somewhere and viewed from above it makes no sense at all. Given the amount of spot fixing we know about etc. it’s hardly an outlandish claim. I’m a long way from a conspiracy theorist but I’ve probably seen enough football to detect something amiss when I see it.

I have no inside line here or anything like that and indeed no skin in the game. I support neither team. The last few minutes have become an iconic thing to the point that no sensible critical discussion of them is possible at this point. One day though…

I’d like to think Brentford fans will think of their 4th goal as fairly iconic. A bit like us Wrexham fans loving the 1st Mullin goal against Stockport in the TRophy last season and then hearing his response when asked when he decided to chip the keeper. “About 20 minutes earlier when I failed to do it then.”

I will also say that, barring absolute disasters, five years from now I expect Thomas Frank to be celebrated as one the great Premier League managers.

Or maybe… He has one half decent season, say top 10 finish, and the rumours start circulating that Spurs or Newcastle or Everton are in for him. His head gets turned by the big bucks, he joins the ‘big’ club. The supporters of said big club grumble and moan that they have appointed a manager from a minnow, nowhere near good enough for our club, we should be in for an Ancelotti or whoever is flavour of the month from abroad. A few bad results, the fans pile the pressure on the board, he gets sacked with his reputation soiled. A few months licking his wounds and spending his pay off and he pops up again at a West Brom or a Fulham for another go at promotion. He gets promotion but the yo-yo team go down again, he gets sacked again and is now perceived as a Neil Warnock type specialist promotion manager, perfect for the Championship, dispensable once he gets his team in the Prem…

Possibly : )

Beautifully etched… if a tad depressing. You’ve just killed my joy.

It’s tough at the top.  I like Thomas Frank. Proper manager and a real human being. I suspect he would decline the big club offer. I hope.

Down at our end of the gene pool pressure is mounting on Phil Parkinson after 1 win 1 draw and 1 loss. This is a return which would likely see us finish 2nd at worst.

I believe the argument is that these needs to be added to the 3 results at the end of last season which saw us lose on the final day so we finished 2nd; lose the FA trophy final and then lose the play off semi 4-5. For me that was a wonderful season. We tired at the end only cos we brought 12 new players in and the squad lacked depth. Our lunatic fringe see it differently.

Anyway, onwards…

I don’t think Thomas Frank will be going anywhere else anytime soon. He’s not daft and he understands that his achievements with the team are, at least in part, due to the cohesion shown across the club, pretty much from top to bottom. He’s never been under pressure when we’ve had bad runs of results (he took over from Dean Smith and lost something like 8 of the first 9 games, and similar run through Nov/Dec last year).

The Danish connection is also very strong which is why I think we were all slightly surprised that CE allowed the £10m bung thrown at him by Marure to tempt him to jump ship.

That’s not to see he isn’t an ambitious manager and I think we’re probably slightly more concerned that the Danish national team might come knocking and if that happened, who knows what he would do. However, I’d rather have that dilemma than wondering how long Eric Ten Games will last with that shower of you know what.

I remain of the view that within our lifetime it will come to light that that match was a fix.

There are many people in Huddersfield who will always believe that last season’s Championship Play Off Final was fixed in order to get big spending sleeping giant Forest into the Premiership at the expense of little old Udders. It’s one thing for an ageing (Leeds fan) ref to miss a couple of blatant penalties but for VAR to also do so, twice, is way too much for the Holme and Colne Valley conspiracy theorists.

Back to the original theme, congrats to Brentford on a superb performance and giving all non-Man U fans a good old chuckle at their expense.
