Homeless Link are reporting that the Youth obligation/ending the so called automatic right to HB for 18-21 year olds will be introduced next April 2017 into geographical areas with the Full Universal Credit service .....rather than across the whole of Great Britain.

Employment Minister Damian Hinds has given further details of what the Youth Obligation programme is likely to include, in a letter to the Work and Pensions Committee last week. Confirming there will be an initial three-week intensive activity period, followed with ongoing encouragement from work coaches to apply for ‘appropriate activities’, the letter also says there will be an expectation after six months for all participants to apply for an Apprenticeship, traineeship or Community Work Placement.

Expect to see an increase in 18-21 year olds going into drug-dealing, burglary, street-robbery etc.

Seriously, how many in that age-group are going to engage with this?

I doubt that….

My fear are much more .... an increase of street homelessness, begging and youngsters being groomed….

Still who knows?
