we responded to the consultation on what should happen to the fund in Scotland following this decision.
we support people with learning disabilities so have a high level of interest in this subject.
And what a familiar tone to the government spokesperson responding to this news….

Despite an assessment in April 2015 stating he needs 24-hours care a day and a stable care package for over 20 years the council took steps to reduce Luke’s funding over the past 12 months down to 17.5 hours which his family, and an independent report said would have a negative effect on his wellbeing.

scotland created a scottish version and a small bit of extra funding has been put into it. be interesting to see what happens going forward but at least no current users lost out.

Channel 4 news reported yesterday results from FOI requests to 150 local authorities, and following a 90 per cent response -
- 67 per cent said funding intended for former ILF users is not ring-fenced; and
- over three quarters said they have cut funding for former ILF users.

The House of Commons library has published two new briefing papers exploring the closure of the ILF, and its replacement with non-ring fenced funding and eligibility criteria determined at a local level.
A Westminster Hall debate on closure of the ILF is to be held on 9 January. The House of Commons Library has produced a debate pack summarising impacts of its closure.
