PIP ‘unplanned intervention’

Its Friday afternoon and I am being entertained by a DWP PIP submission - so it’s only fair to share!

Client had an award of PIP. Apparently a claimants application for a supersession due to change of circumstances is an ‘unplanned intervention’. There is no reference to the relevant decision making regs (or appropriate terminology) anywhere in the sub or actual decision notices.

Apparently the initial decision following the supersession request and the MRN are decisions on a new claim.

Aaarrrrrhhhhh!

You’ll no doubt be delighted to learn:
The government says that it has replaced the term ‘Planned Intervention’ with a more appropriate descriptor of the process – Award Review; updated its guidance for case managers and health professionals; and is conducting initial testing for potential improvements to the award reviews process.

Intrestingly, when I recently received a copy of a reply from the Minister to my clients MP about the ‘planned intervention’ process, no mention was made of the change of name etc. To be fair the reply was before the DWP 2nd response published yesterday. I wonder how long it will take to change the wording of the letters issued to claimants or the jargon terms used in DWP appeal submissions etc?
