UC payments

I helped a tenant claim UC for the first time on the 15th April and we were informed as part of the claims process that the expected date of payment is the 21st May and given the expected payment amount. This amounts to her personal allowance and housing costs element for exactly one calendar month. I was expecting her to be receiving payment for the full 5 weeks between date of claim and payment date because I didn’t think the 7 days waiting period was coming in until July…or am I misunderstanding this?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Sorry, have edited my post as it was not clear,  my understanding is that claimants will only receive one month assessment period payment which will be paid 7 days after the end of the assessment period.  Therefore your client will recieve payment for the period from 15th April until 14th May.  The period from 15th May will be part of the next monthly assessment period.
