Hello

UC is being rolled out to single claimaints in two local authorities in our area from 16th February.

If someone already has a live HB claim, will a change of address be a relevant change of circumstances that will require new claim for UC or be treated as a continuation of an exisitng claim (where there is no break in the claim)

Apologies for the simpliclty of this question but something I’ve not grasped as yet

TIA

Never a simple question with UC!

Not if they’re claiming ‘old-style’ JSA (which is JSA under the current system) - if they are then they are precluded from claiming UC under the gateway conditions.

And also under the gateway conditions your earnings have to be under £330 per month so the likelihood is they would be.

We are engaging with all our customers in Hartlepool which, as Andrea advises will have UC for new single job seekers from 16th February. We are identifying single tenants who are currently ESA claimants who where expecting to go back on to JSA in the near future. If this is after 15th February will it be a UC claim,  deemed to be a new claim as a job seeker or will the linking rules apply and allow JSA to come back into payment?

A client’s landlord was Hounslow LB in the geographic area of Slough; she was claiming IR JSA, CTC, CB, HB, CTS with HB paid by Hounslow LB; she then moves back to Hounslow with Hounslow being her old and current landlord, Hounslow is a digital full service area, should she claim UC or can she stay on HB?

As I understand it she will stay on legacy benefits as there is no new claim - just a change of circumstances (new address) for HB but continuing on same claim.
