If someone to Thailand for 8 weeks and is receiving ESA, will the pension credit raise to make up the difference?

Hi

I have a client who wants to go on holiday to Thailand for 8 weeks.  He is currently receiving contribution-related ESA and pension credit.  The client is 65 shortly and there is no chance of any inheritance or any pensions starting before he is 65.

Payments of ESA will stop after 4 weeks but pension credit can continue for up to 13 weeks.  After 4 weeks abroad, will the Pension Credit go up by the amount that his Employment and Support Allowance is at the moment?

Thanks

Can he not ask the pension service if he can close his ESA claim now and get the difference back in GPC?

I know that technically it CAN be seen as deprivation however ive personally never seen the PS ever say that.

If they OK it then he can close ESA and everything sorted.
