Tenant has been refused PIP and DLA was due to end 31/03/2017.
Notice received that DLA was ending early.

Is this because DLA ends 4 weeks after decision to nil award and can this be extended in any way…

Unfortunately the short answer is no.

The PIP(Transitional Protections) Regs 2013 (Reg 17(1)(b) if you want to look it up), state that the entitlement to DLA shall terminate 28 days following a determination by PIP.

In this case it doesn’t matter whether it is a positive or negative determination, the DLA award will cease in any case. This is why even when the claimant may be entitled to more when transferring to PIP that they have to wait for the 28 days before getting this. So I am afraid it is irrelevant that the award was due to end at a later date.
