recovery of unspent DLA mobility component

I had the strangest query yesterday relating to accumulation of unspent DLA mobility. The caller said that they had been told that any mobility component not spent within the month in which it has been issued could be recovered by DWP. I have never heard of that (and would think if that was the case there would be information/warnings on award letters surely)

I have searched guidance and cant find anything and have never come across anyone who has had this happen. The caller informed me that they visited CAB who said that the informtion was incorrect but then received a call to say that in fact it was correct.

Im pretty sure tht there are some crossed wires or mis-understandings here but thought I would just throw this out there to make sure I havent been asleep and missed something? The only reference I can find to anything like this relates to ILF

thank you in advance

Sounds more like a misinterpretation of the rule that any benefit unspent after the period it was paid for would then count as capital- see p 351 of the current Handbook

That sounds like it might be the logical conclusion - thank you. Amazing how wires can get crossed
