Renewal form 18 months ahead?!

I interviewed someone recently who had been sent a PIP form to complete.  I discovered that there is a current award that only lapses in November 2016 [18 months away].  This did cause me to raise one of my eyebrows in quizzical expression.  Suspecting that something may be amiss: a possible mischievous telephone call or a failed Work Capability Assessment etc., I telephoned PIP to enquire as to the position.  I was assured that my suspicions about possible problems with the current award were groundless, and that this was purely a renewal claim.

“What, a renewal 18 months off?” I said in surprised tone.
“Well yes”, I was told, “it does seem a bit early, but we usually send them out 12 months ahead”.
      “12 months ahead?”
“Yes 12 months.  This is to overcome the delays that have plagued the claim’ decision making process in the past”.

I’m sure that others know about this already but I didn’t.  I thought I’d let them others ‘s didn’t know too.

Thank you,

Patrick.

Will we get to the point that a PIP2 is sent with an award notice? Our survey says…

Ive just experienced this as well. A client of mine was awarded PIP in October 2014 until May 2016, and has just received his renewal form in the last few weeks, to be returned by the 12th June!! It’s crazy. Its just a continual exercise of making claimants jump through hoops!
