This is probably the longest shot I’ve ever taken but does anyone by chance have a copy of an Income Support Claim form from 1990 hidden away in the depths of their reference material / booksleves?

Needed for an overpayment case.

Thanks (in hope!)

Sorry, but even I can’t provide a 1990 claim form.    Have you actually asked the DWP for a copy of the form which the claimant completed in 1990?  They may struggle to establish a failure to disclose information if they can’t produce the original claim.

Thanks Ruth. DWP cannot help, all old claim forms weeded.  I’m considering the burden of proof angle but I just wanted to see the wording of the questions at the time in relation to “other income”, in particular occupational pensions.

Mike. Brilliant detective work.  Thanks

I knew he’d be able to help :) He was actually disappointed he could only find a 1988 one and not 1990 :)

It’s a terrible thing you’ve just fanned the flames of though. Nothing is ever disposed of on the vague premise it will one day come in useful. Your request has just justified that hoarding yet again :)

I’m having flashbacks to 1999 when I was still working on the last of my Supp. Ben. take-up cases! Aaaaaagh.

I was reading CPC/196/2012 yesterday. The department was put to task on the content of a claim form from 1994(?) and although it could not produce it, it provided one from 2000 and attached a statement from an experienced DWP officer, who declared that the form was substantially the same. The UT Judge accepted the 2000 form as adequate.

Blimey- that takes me back! I remember it well…. Do you remember Single Payments?

Re hoarding- we have CPAG handbooks back to 1990 just so you all know.

Funny that; only yesterday was I digging through the ‘86 CPAG and legislation due to something that popped up. No nostalgia though as I was only 12 at the time 😊

I’ve got a single payments Tribunal decision for people to get all starry eyed at should you wish!

Ahhh single payments - On one of our take up campaigns I thnk we provided orders for enough spades and garden forks to keep spear and jackson in business for a year.  Don’t forget the ENPs for having a “cold end terrach house”, extra launddry or a special diet.

Supplementary Benefit.  Didn’t you just love it.

Only 1990? We can go back much further than that. Like, to the start :)

Absolutely. It’s the only upside of a tendency to hoard :)

Left to me I would have nothing more than this years stuff.

See now that’s the difference. We KNOW where ours are :)
