Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that we’ve launched a new online information and advice service, called Ask CPAG Online (with support from the Baring Foundation). We’re aiming to provide users with up-to-date expert information online on the big issues affecting social security claimants and the people who advise them. Additionally, professional advisers will be able to obtain email advice on the online information to help clarify and develop their understanding of relevant issues.

The first round of content is focussed on benefit sanctions, which have affected almost 1,500,000 jobseeker’s allowance, and employment and support allowance claimants around the UK since October 2012. As well as explaining the basic concepts around benefit sanctions, the information will help those using the service to understand how to:

• Avoid sanctions, by understanding the requirements,
• Challenge sanctions, where things have gone wrong, and
• Obtain hardship payments, where payments are removed or reduced.

Future content will be guided by the feedback from advisers as to the issues and problems that their clients are facing, with the next round of content looking at issues around Mandatory Reconsideration and how to approach this new system of reviews. We hope that by listening to the views and the needs of advisers from around the country, we can begin to develop a bank of practical online information that will complement CPAG’s best-selling Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits Handbook.

Ask CPAG Online is at http://www.cpag.org.uk/content/welcome-ask-cpag-online

You can also follow ASK CPAG Online on Twitter at @AskCPAG https://twitter.com/AskCPAG

Thanks to Shawn and co for letting us let you know about this service as well, much appreciated :-)

Hi folks,

Just to let you know that we’ve finally managed to get the new content about Mandatory Reconsideration loaded up to Ask CPAG Online

If you want to have a look, see Mandatory reconsideration

Please do have a look and let us know what you think - we’re quite new to online information provision in this way and the only way we’re going to refine and improve what we do is with your feedback and opinion, good or bad.

Similarly, if you have ideas for new content, then please do let us know, as we’re keen to try and keep this relevant to the day to day problems you’re coming across.

Cheers, Paul

Hi all,

Just to flag up that we’ve got some new content on Ask CPAG Online, covering ESA Problem Areas

We’ve tried to cover a wide range of issues from claiming through conditionality and onto challenging decisions across the piece.

I’m sure there’s some gremlins lurking so please have a look and let us know your thoughts. In particular, we’re looking at drafting content around Discretionary Housing Payments next but would really welcome ideas for other content that you think might be helpful.

cheers Paul
