Hello, I have to put together some benefits advice specifically for apprentices, so if anyone knows of any benefits rules specific to apprentices I would be very grateful.

Thanks

A specific question that I’m not sure about:

When the National Living Wage is introduced it will apply to workers who are 25+. Under current rules, apprentices who are 19+ and not in their first year receive the minimum wage for their age. Does this meant that after the NLW is introduced, apprentices who are 25+ and not in their first year of training will receive the NLW? I’m not sure how common it is for apprentices to be 25 or over, but would be interested to know the answer in any case.

The gov.uk website says the following but doesn’t specify about apprentices:

“National living wage

From April 2016, the national living wage will be £7.20 an hour for workers aged 25 and older. The minimum wage will still apply for workers aged 24 and under.”
