Hi all. Can I just please quiz on the way people use this forum;

there’s a ‘latest discussions’ feed on the homepage, which seems different to the ‘most recent topics’ feed on the discussion page

there’s email updates if you’ve subscribed to a post. And there’s the ‘New posts’ button at the top of the discussion page, along with ‘My posts’

I’m looking for a one size fits all way of staying up to date, I don’t like missing updates, but all of the above seems a bit fragmented.

Can people please advise on how they stay on top of everything here?

best

I don’t know of any way to get all the posts emailed to you - what I do is log on fairly regularly, click on the blue posts that sound interesting then click “mark all as read” at the top. That way when I log on again only the new posts will turn up blue and I won’t miss anything.

Hi David

If you don’t want to miss any posts then the best button to use is the ‘new posts’ tab on the left of buttons at the top of the forum page. This will show you any threads (new or old) that have been posted and you have not read in the forum. You can then choose the ones you want to read and then use the ‘mark all as read’ button in the middle of the buttons to ensure that they won’t just come up again next time you use the ‘new posts’ button.

The latest discussions on the home page are the most recent postings in time which may be on a new or old thread. The ‘most recent topics’ on the discussion page are the threads that have been most recently created. Does that make sense?

You can subscribe to a thread (button underneath topic title) and get an email everytime someone posts - can be useful if it’s a question you’ve asked or something you’re particularly interested in.

I also use the ‘add to favourites’ option also found under topic title (which you then access through your ‘my rightsnet’ tab at the top of every page in the grey bar) if there is something that I think I will want to look back on in the future and I want to be able to access it easily.

The ‘my posts’ button can be useful if you know you posted a question before but can’t find it.

I’m sure others will have other suggestions about how they use it but I hope that helps.

Do come back if you have any other questions/suggestions.

Daphne

PS You were up late pondering those questions ;)
