Changing from HB to LHA

We’ve read with interest some archive discussion threads about whether there has to be a gap of a week in entitlement when a person moves from HB to LHA. It appears that the thread comes to an end without a definate answer.

We have a scheme for people with learning disabilities that we are looking to change from HB to LHA. The licence agreement will change, in that it will no longer have a substantial board element included. We know that this does not exclude it from being referred to the rent office so this is not the way we see it moving over.

We appreciate that entitlement has to end and that a new claim has to be made however we consider that although HB guidance states that there should be a gap in entitlement of one week there this nothing that we can see in the regulations to support this.

If anyone has any experience or thoughts on this please let us know.
