PIP Migration

I understand London DLA claimants are receiving DWP letters warning that that they may be migrated to PIP if they seek a DLA supersession. I do not have the full wording (someone read one out to me over the phone earlier today). Is this (i) a cock up or, (ii) huge advance warning that London claimants will eventually migrate, or (iii) is London coming in from the cold sooner than we thought, or (iv) have I got it all wrong?!

Does this simply reprent the standard form uprating letters with all the bumpf about PIP on them?

It is, after all, that time of year.

I have similiar concerns to you Steve. Spoke to a parent in an RH postcode (also not currently a designated postcode area) who has been told that her son will be invited to claim PIP once he turns 16 in July. She queried this, quoting the DWPs own info on re-assessments - including the postcode map - which make clear he should be sent a DLA renewal form. However she has apparently been told that the online info in the PIP toolkit is no longer up to date and that he will definitely be invited to claim PIP after his 16th birthday.

Can’t make my mind up whether this is just a random case of the DWP ignoring it’s own policy or whether it is an early indication that parts of the south east are shortly to be announced as designated postcode areas.

A friend has told me that their 15 year old son has been informed that he will be ‘invited’ to claim PIP on his 16th Birthday later this year.  They live in a SW postcode!

Actually, it may be cock-up rather than conspiracy.

I’ve seen a few clients with similar letters in the past couple of weeks (all were parents of children soon to turn 16). The letter in question, if it is the same one, is clearly a standard, generic one and according to DWP when I contacted them all the children in question have had their current DLA awards extended by 12 months.

Mind you, that doesn’t necessarily mean the goalposts won’t move unexpectedly.
